Mike Bonham is the head trainer at Bonham Stables. He grew up in the hunter/jumper business in a family involved in the equestrian industry for four generations and has ridden for over fifty years. Mike has traveled across the country showing and running sales and client based barns as well as spending time in Europe investing in prospects. Mike is driven and committed to bringing out the most potential in both horses and riders. Mike and his students have won hundreds of hunter and jumper championships. Notably he trained his daughter Kels Bonham to a win Reserve Champion at Pony Finals and Champion at the Pessoa USEF Medal Finals in 2008. Mike continued his success in the business taking students from the children's hunter to the 3'6 junior hunter ring, children's jumpers to regional Grand Prix's and qualifying multiple students for medal finals.
His current focus is on the starting, developing and showing young sport horses with rider Lauren McGuire.
Lauren McGuire is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she received a degree in Equestrian Studies. She has been riding and competing professionally for five years. Currently she is based out of Woodstock, Illinois where she works for breeder Dr. Rachel Kane DVM. Under the tutelage of Michael Bonham, Lauren starts, develops, and shows young sport horses along with a few sales horses. Her goal is to connect with each horse as an individual and to always strive to keep their happiness of the upmost importance.
